We use skincare every day, but… are we actually applying it correctly?
Surprisingly, there is a right way to layer your skincare products and following it can significantly boost their effectiveness. The golden rule? Apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency. This simple switch helps your skin absorb ingredients better and improves overall results.
Let’s break it down from the prep stage to your final product.

Step 1: Cleanser (Your Blank Canvas)
A clean face is the essential first step. Cleansing removes dirt, excess oil, pollutants and product build-up, giving you a fresh base so your leave-on products can penetrate properly and do their job.

Step 2: Exfoliant (1–2 Times a Week)
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that cleansing alone can’t reach. This not only smooths the skin but also allows serums and moisturisers to absorb more effectively. We recommend a gentle exfoliant to avoid stripping the skin barrier.

Step 3: Toning Mist
Often underestimated, toning mists are crucial. They:
- Rehydrate the skin after cleansing
- Reset your skin’s pH
- Prep your skin for deeper absorption
A few spritzes can make a big difference in your skin's texture and how well it responds to the next steps.

Step 4: Serums
This is where your treatment happens. Serums are packed with actives that target specific concerns, hydration, pigmentation, ageing, breakouts and should always go on straight after your mist for maximum impact.

Step 5: Moisturiser
Moisturisers help lock in hydration and provide barrier support. While they don’t penetrate as deeply as serums, they’re essential to protect your skin and seal in the goodness you’ve just applied.

Step 6: Facial Oil (Optional, but Powerful)
Oils sit on the surface of the skin they don’t sink deep like serums. That’s why it’s vital to use them last in your routine. Applying oil too early can block other products from absorbing properly.
Used at the end, oils:
- Lock in moisture
- Soften skin texture
- Help prevent dehydration
- Offer protection from environmental stressors
